When we bought our house, no much had been done to it since 1979. We replaced the carpet, the roof the deck. About a week ago Brad decided he wanted to rip out the concrete fireplace and build a brick fireplace. My husband is so talented when it comes to masonry. He doesn't work with red brick much as he specializes in refractory(high heat brick). I think the new fireplace is beautiful, I can't wait for him to build me a stone one upstairs.
